In the midst of media violence & video game violence around every corner we’ve put together a list of tips that moms and dads, grandparents and care givers can use to protect children from video game violence, movie violence, TV and internet violence, and other forms of violence in the media.
Know What Your Kids Are Watching
Before purchasing a video game, allowing them to see a movie, or watch a TV show, you need to do your homework. There are many great resources available for reviews including PluggedIn and Common Sense Media.
Use Media With Your Kids
One of the most important things you can do to protect your children from media violence is to partcipate in the use of media with them. This will allow you to both provide a filter to ensure that they are watching or using positive media, and allow you to model appropriate usage of media.
