Impacts on the Classroom
Every teacher know the impacts of media don’t stop when their students turn off the power button. Video games, television, movies, cell phones and music define the youth culture, and can have devastating impacts on the classroom.
Research has shown students immersed in violent media have challenges looking into subject matter deeply, have a shorter attention span, lower levels of sociability, and increasingly aggressive behavior.
With some students spending 7-8 hours a day plugged into media, homework is not getting done and studying is being ignored, further diminishing classroom participation.
Outside of the classroom, media has cut into extra curricular activities, putting at risk the students desire to belong to any sports, clubs or other programs.
