Abstract: Investigated the effect of a filmed, physically punitive parent model on the behavior of 60 1st grade boys. It was hypothesized that a filmed sequence of a parent physically punishing a child would stimulate significantly more aggressive behavior in a group of observing boys than would be stimulated in a group who viewed a nonpunitive film. Results show that the total percentage of aggressive responses emitted in doll play was significantly higher for the punitive than for the nonpunitive group.
