Compared to many Western nations, there is a lack of media education in Asian countries to teach children how to use television wisely for entertainment. The purpose of this study was to determine if it was possible to apply a Western media education instrument in the Hong Kong setting. Specifically, this study was a test of whether Hong Kong children could be prepared for television violence by using the critical viewing skills project, “Taking Charge of Your TV.” (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2009 APA, all rights reserved)
