Public Health Model

For an issue to be deemed of public health concern, many factors must be in place. Using the scientific method a broad range of inputs from diverse sectors including health, education, social services, justice, and policy, are part of the process.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) provides a 4 step process of the Public Health Model:
Step 1: Define and Monitor the Problem
Step 2: Identify risk and protective factors
Step 3: Develop and test prevention strategies
Step 4: Assure widespread adoption

Our goal is to assist public health departments in evaluating violence in media and the associated addiction through this process. We believe that while some attention has been given to the impacts and significant research has taken place privately, government has not tackled the issue.
